Pradhan mantri ujjwala yojana: The government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to make the lives of poor families easier. This scheme is especially for women who are living below the poverty line (BPL). The main objective of this scheme is to provide clean cooking fuel (LPG) in rural and backward areas, so that women do not use wood, coal or cow dung fuel. Traditional fuel had a negative effect on health and the environment was also affected.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala scheme, poor women are given free LPG connection as well as cash assistance from the government. In which-

• If you take a cylinder of 14.2 kg, you will get help of Rs 1,600.
• At the same time, this amount is Rs 1,150 for a 5 kg cylinder.
• This cash assistance includes many important things, including-
• Cylinder Security Deposit- Security amount for keeping cylinders.
• Pressure Regulator- For safe supply of gas.
• LPG hose-pipe to add cylinders and stove.
• Domestic gas consumer card- for your name and connection information.
• Installation and Demonstation Charges- Extending of connections and use.
• In addition, all beneficiaries also get the first refill and stove (hotplate) absolutely free. This means that you can use a means of cooking immediately without any extra expenses.

Who can apply for PM Ujjwala Scheme?

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana only women can apply who are 18 years or older and whose families fall in the categories below-

• SC, ST Family: Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Families.
• Families included under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural).
• Family of Most Backward Classes.
• Poor families falling under Antyodaya Ann Yojana (Aay).
• Families working in tea gardens.
• Forest dwellers and people living on the islands, river islands.
• SECC Households and other poor families, who are financially backward.
• Another essential condition is that there should be no LPG connection in the family.

• Application Form: You can download the form from the official website. Or you can take your nearest LPG distributor.
• Essential forms and annexures: KYC Form: For your identity and bank details. Supplementary KYC Document & Undertaking- For additional information. Annexure I-Self-dealing for migrant families. Annexure II-LPG Connection Pre-Estaltion check before installing the connection.
• Fill the form: Fill the choice of your personal information, bank account details and LPG distributor in the form.
• Attach the required document: identity card (Aadhaar or other valid ID), address certificate, BPL or Poverty category proof
• Submit the form: Submit the complete form and all the documents to the nearest LPG distributor.
