Ever since Sujeeth dropped a pre-release poster for They Call Him OG, whispers began about a shared universe between his two films, Saaho and They Call Him OG.

And after the release, many users posted some scenes and claimed that there is a connection between Saaho and They Call Him OG, with Jackie Shroff as the common link.

While the idea of a ‘Sujeeth Cinematic Universe’ may sound tempting, the reality is that such a connection may do more harm than good.

To begin with, Saaho was widely considered a disappointment. Despite its massive budget and hype, the film underperformed critically and commercially, especially in its home turf of Telugu cinema. In the Hindi belt too, it struggled to make a lasting impact after its opening weekend.

Tying They Call Him OG to a movie that carries the baggage of failure risks saddling Pawan Kalyan’s film with unwanted comparisons and negative recall value. Rather than building excitement, it might trigger scepticism.

Another practical issue lies in release dynamics. OG is expected to have a limited release in Hindi, focusing mainly on Telugu and South markets. By dragging in the Saaho universe, a film marketed heavily as a pan-India product but still rejected by both Telugu and Hindi audiences, Sujeeth may dilute OG’s own identity. The film has the potential to stand tall as a gritty gangster drama, but unnecessary connections could overshadow its originality.

Finally, there’s the question of star exclusivity. Prabhas remains one of the biggest names in Indian cinema. Forcing him into cameos or linking his Saaho world with OG undermines that exclusivity and feels like a gimmick. A Prabhas appearance should feel special, not like a device to “prop up” another film.

In short, They Call Him OG deserves to be judged on its own merit. Building cinematic universes works only when the foundation is strong. With Saaho’s shaky legacy, it’s best to let OG carve its own path.
