The Varanasi Mandal won the gold medal in a brilliant performance at the Inter-Covered Sub-Junior Girls Kabaddi Championship held from 24 to 26 September at the Sports Stadium in Soron, Kasganj. A total of 19 teams including 18 divisional teams across the state and a team from Sports Hostel Agra participated in the competition. Varanasi performed brilliantly in the league stage of the competition.

Varanasi defeated Kanpur division 29-3 and Bareilly Mandal 21-1. He then defeated Prayagraj Mandal 36-18 in the quarter-finals and 29-15 in the semi-finals to enter the finals.

The final match was one-sided, in which Varanasi defeated the Agra Hostel team with a score of 43-18 and won the championship. With this victory, Varanasi not only won the gold medal, but also established his dominance in the state sub-junior girl child kabaddi competition.

District Carrom Competition: Winning quarter -finals and confirmed the final in the final

The quarter -final match was played on the fifth day of the late Ramagya Singh IV Zilla Carrom competition at Chandra Tripathi Memorial Stadium on England Line. In the exciting matches on Friday, the top players performed strongly and secured a place in the semi -finals. The first quarter -final match of the day took place between Uttar Pradesh’s second -ranked player Krishna Dayal Yadav and his younger brother Priyanshu Yadav.

Elder brother Krishna Dayal performed brilliantly and won both sets 25-12 and 21-11 and secured a place in the semi-finals. In the second quarter -finals, former champion and veteran player Ashwini Chakraborty defeated Jamunadhar Gupta (Jhunjhun Gupta). The match was very close and Ashwini won 24–16 and 19–17.

In the third quarter-finals, national level young player Shivdayal Yadav performed brilliantly, defeating Vaibhav Narayan Singh in straight sets 19–13 and 24-15 to enter the final four. In the fourth and final quarter -finals, talented player Gaurav Gupta performed well.

250 participants showed strength in Veerangana
On Friday, the first open state level girl karate competition, Veerangana was inaugurated at Nivedita Shiksha Sadan at Mahmurganj. A total of 250 girls from 15 schools in seven districts of the state participated in it. There was a thrilling match between the teams of Sant Atulanand Convent School and Panini Girls College.

The main objective of the competition is to awaken the spirit of self -defense in girls and promote women empowerment through martial arts. The winning girls will be given a gold medal and a silver coin as a memento. The program was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Prof. Anand Kumar Tyagi lit the lamp and worshiped nine girls.

On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, the guests presented symbolic swords to nine brave women and gave a message of encouragement to every house Durga campaign. Chief Guest Prof. Tyagi said that it is necessary for both society and state to empower girls and make them self -sufficient. He greeted the organizing committee and the entire team of the beginning Sports and Fitness Academy.

Women basketball players selected in Varanasi
The senior women basketball team selected from Varanasi division will also participate in the state level integrated senior women’s basketball competition to be held in Meerut. Trials have been organized at the district and mandal levels for team selection. The district level trials will be held at Sigra Stadium on Saturday morning, after which there will be a divisional trials on Sunday. Only selected players at the district level will be able to participate in the divisional trial. Vimala Singh, regional sports officer of Varanasi division, said that this competition will provide a golden opportunity to women players to show their talent and reach the state level.

There will be a trial of players before the sub-junior athletics competition.

Players of Varanasi division will also participate in the state level integrated sub-junior boys/girl athletics competition to be held in Ayodhya in October. Earlier, the district level trials were held on October 4 at Dr. Sampurnanand Sports Stadium. Divisional trials will also be held on 7 October.

The players will be trained for the best performance. Athletics coach Chandrabhan Yadav said that only selected players in the trial will be sent to Ayodhya. 16 boys and 16 girls from Varanasi will participate in the state level competition. Deputy Sports Officer Dr. Manjur Alam Ansari said that the players will be able to participate in the divisional trial on October 7 at 9 am. Selected players at the divisional level will showcase their talent in the state level athletics competition to be held in Ayodhya.

The players are expected to reach the trial venue on time with their eligibility certificate, passport size photo, birth certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation and the age certificate verified by the Principal of their school. Regional Sports Officer of Varanasi division Vimala Singh said that this competition will not only give the young players an opportunity to show their skills, but they will also get the opportunity for training and they will also get inspiration to reach the state level.
