Though the branches of banks will be closed, thanks to the proliferation of technology, many banking services are available through ATMs, online and mobile apps of banks. These are checking balance, making payments (both digital and online), creating FDs or breaking them and getting the money in savings accounts etc. For cash emergencies, one can always visit ATMs which are there in plenty in most neighbourhoods. However, many people, especially the elders, are not comfortable with digital and online services. For them knowing whether a bank branch is open is crucial.
