GATE 2026 Registration Extended: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has extended the registration deadline. Candidates can now apply online on the official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in, until October 6, 2025. IIT Guwahati had previously set the GATE 2026 application deadline as September 28, but has extended it for the convenience of many candidates. Candidates who have not yet registered can take advantage of this opportunity.

Apply by October 9 with late fees.

According to the new notification, the deadline for applications without late fees has now been extended to October 6. Candidates who are unable to apply by that time can register with a late fee until October 9, 2025. The late fee is ₹1,500 per paper for female candidates and reserved categories, and ₹2,500 per paper for all other candidates.

GATE Exam to be held in February

The GATE 2026 exam will be held on February 7, 8, 14, and 15. The GATE 2026 exam will be conducted in two shifts: the morning session from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Admit cards will be available for download from January 2, 2026, while scorecards will be available for free download from March 27 to May 31, 2026.

New Sectional Paper in GATE 2026
This year, a new sectional paper, Energy Science, has been added to GATE 2026, which has been included in the Engineering Sciences (XE) subject. Candidates will now be able to choose any two of the eight sections under the XE subject.
