A drunk Brit who fought armed police and "tried to open the door" on a flight to Spain has been named. The Ryanair flight, travelling from Luton Airport to Alicante on Friday (September 26), descended into chaos, forcing the plane to make an emergency landing in France, before the man was hauled off the plane by local police.
The man has been named as Daniel Ashley-Laws, a dad and builder who goes by the name of Dan Rizz on social media. He appears to be the passenger from the viral clip, which showed a tattooed man being dragged off the flight by his ear. He was thought to be in custody in Toulouse, where the plane was forced to land, on Monday, but images posted online showed him and his pals in Benidorm. A photo later posted on social media shows the bald-headed man giggling in a Hawaiian shirt as two of his mates yank his ear - apparently mimicking the French cops.
The picture was posted alongside a caption reading: "Benni final boss - some French lads lol madness."
A police source said: "He was next to an emergency door, and trying to open it.
"It was terrifying for everybody else on the flight. The pilot had no other option except to land the plane."
The pilot was forced to land in Toulouse, where a unit of the Air Transport Gendarmerie Company (CGTA) was waiting. Daniel and his son were among five men dragged off the flight, but he did not go quietly. Refusing to stand up, footage posted online shows the man saying: "No, no, no, no - no f***ing way."
He is then seen climbing onto a seat and fighting with the two officers trying to arrest him. At one point, he almost flies into the passengers across the aisle. The police then grabbed him by the neck and escorted him off the flight as he is heard protesting: "I'm coming, you f***".
The police source said: "His blood alcohol level was so high that it was a number of hours before he could be spoken to". It was also claimed by the owner of the TikTok account who posted the video that the men could "barely stand up" shortly before the flight's departure.
A passenger said: "When it became clear that the majority of the group, excluding the stag himself, were being removed from the aircraft, tensions escalated further."
After the men were removed, the flight was cleared for take-off and left Toulouse-Blagnac airport at 10.15pm.
