Vijay's 'Jana Nayagan' song launch postponed after Karur stampede: Report

The song launch of Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming action drama, Jana Nayagan, initially scheduled for the first week of October, has been postponed.

The makers took this decision due to the recent tragic stampede during Vijay's rally in Karur, reported Gulte.

The incident claimed 41 lives and injured many others, leading to a somber environment in Tamil Nadu.

Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music for Jana Nayagan.

Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, is set to hit theaters on January 9, 2026, during the Pongal season.

Pooja Hegde plays the female lead opposite Vijay in this action-packed drama. The supporting cast includes Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Priyamani and Gautham Menon.

KVN Productions has bankrolled the project.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M Appavu has commented on the stampede incident. He alleged that Vijay's deliberately delayed arrival at the rally caused the tragedy.

"After acting on the silver screen, Mr. Vijay is acting on the instructions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah," he said, adding that they are now rushing to Delhi for damage control.

Vijay's name was not included in the FIR related to this incident.
