Autumn is all about embracing the season’s cosy, comforting vibes, and we love nothing more than finding a perfume that helps replicate that. A scent that’s warming, sugary and a little bit spicy is the perfect choice, and Zara McDermott has already found the perfect scent for the season.
The documentary maker shared her new favourite go-to on Instagram, raving about Sol de Janeiro’s new Limited Edition Sundays in Rio Hair and Body Perfume Mist. The fragrance is the latest launch from the cult favourite brand, and you can pick up a huge 90ml bottle for just £24, making it an affordable addition to your perfume rotation.

Zara revealed she was using it whilst in New York, writing: “Omg I’m utterly obsessed. This is giving all the vanilla autumn feels!” The Sundays in Rio Perfume Mist is a limited edition launch from the brand, so it’ll not be hanging around long if you want to get your hands on it.
It’s also the perfect sweet and spicy scent for autumn, so we’re sure it’ll be a firm favourite for the season. It has top notes of pink pepper and ambrette absolute, with heart notes of warm vanilla and red champaca. Meanwhile the base notes are amber musk, making it warm, sultry and cosy smelling.
The perfect scent for both day and night, the Sundays in Rio Perfume Mist is a lightweight spray that can be spritzed everywhere from your body to your hair, creating a lingering scent. It’s worth noting that, like most body sprays, the longevity won’t be as extensive as a regular eau de parfum, however its affordable price tag and handbag-friendly bottle means you can top it up whenever you need on the go.
If you’re looking for a true perfume with a little more longevity that embraces similar sweet and spicy notes, then the Glossier You Eau de Parfum (£70) is a fab alternative, with notes of pink pepper, iris and abrox. Meanwhile the Phlur Not Your Baby Eau De Parfum (£99) combines vanilla milk, tonka beans, cardamom, violet and bergamot for a warm, cost and rich-smelling fragrance.
On LookFantastic, the Sol de Janeiro spray currently only has one review, which is a five star one saying: “The best one they’ve made, it smells so so good. I will most definitely buy again.”
However there are several more reviews over at Sephora, with one writing: “This to me smells like a deeper and darker Cheirosa 40 and as 40 is my fave, I LOVE THIS” whilst another agreed: “What a lovely fall scent. Limited edition so I had to pick it up. Just a nice scent to switch to for a change.”
Some found some issues, however, with one saying: “I absolutely LOVE the smell of this spray! But unfortunately I found it doesn’t last very long as some of the other scents so that’s a bit disappointing.”
Whilst another wrote: “It smells like Hawaiian Tropic spray sunscreen to me. Not a bad smell but I can’t justify the price to smell like something I already use at a lower price point.”
Others however loved the Sundays in Rio Perfume Mist scent, writing: “This is my fave limited edition they ever came out with. A warm pistachio vanilla scent with a hint of cinnamon. I’m in love! It’s warm and cozy. Lasts pretty long 4-5 hours.”
