Pakistani YouTuber and comedian Junaid Akram, popularly known as Ganjiswag, has called out the Times of India for publishing a fabricated story about him, becoming the latest victim of false reporting by Indian media.

The controversy began when an article claimed Junaid grew up in the Gulf, later moved to Canada, and faced racism there because people mistook him for an Indian. The report even alleged that he worked at a fast-food chain in Canada and often had to clarify his Pakistani identity.

However, the entire story turned out to be false. The video clip on which the report was based actually showed Junaid reading an email sent by a viewer — not recounting his own life.

Reacting to the misinformation, Junaid posted a humorous yet critical response video. “Your boy became a Canadian national without even going to Canada! Khalli Walli,” he joked, clarifying that the story was misinterpreted and entirely made up.

He explained that the email he read came from someone who had faced racism after moving to Canada, and he was only sharing commentary on it. Despite Junaid tagging Times of India and correcting the mistake on Instagram, the outlet did not amend or retract the story even after several days.

The comedian expressed concern over how easily false information spreads online, calling it a symptom of click-driven journalism. He said the situation raises deeper questions about misinformation and the reliability of news in the digital age.

Junaid concluded by warning that if such fake stories can be published about well-known figures like him, the situation for ordinary individuals could be even worse.
