Items Not Allowed in Delhi Metro: Delhi Metro is considered the safest transport in the country. As soon as they step into the metro station, every passenger comes under the surveillance of CISF security personnel and DMRC CCTV cameras. Because of this, traveling in the metro, whether day or night, is quite safe for the common people. But due to this security, many times passengers face difficulty in traveling with some things. Recently a video went viral in which a parent and their child were stopped from traveling in the metro for carrying a toy gun.

Who is responsible for security in the metro?

According to DMRC, it is the job of CISF to ensure security and follow rules in the metro. CISF personnel not only check the passengers but also thoroughly search their luggage. If a passenger brings prohibited luggage in the metro, it is immediately confiscated and it is not possible to travel in the metro with that luggage.

Which items are banned in the metro?

  • Sharp and pointed weapons: like knives, scissors, swords, blades, pistols etc.
  • Tools: Screwdriver, Pliers, Testers etc.
  • Explosives: Hand grenades, gunpowder, firecrackers, plastic explosives etc.
  • Flammable substances: LPG, petrol, paint, wet batteries etc.
  • Oil, ghee etc: unless there is airtight packing
  • weapon-like toys

Why is metro security tightened during festivals?

Security is further tightened in the metro during festivals. DMRC says that its purpose is to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent any kind of chaos. Sometimes some goods are fake, but these can also create fear and panic among other passengers. Therefore, before traveling in the metro, keep in mind that you do not carry any prohibited items.
