How much will the salary increase under the 8th Pay Commission?

Now the biggest question is how much the salary will increase under the Eighth Pay Commission. According to recent reports by Ambit Capital and Kotak Institutional Equities, the fitment factor could range between 1.83 to 2.46. This factor will determine the amount of the salary increase.

Expected salary increase in 8th Pay Commission

Base Case (Fitment Factor 1.83) – Increase by 14%

Median Case (Fitment Factor 2.15) – Increase by 34%

Upper Case (Fitment Factor 2.46) – Increase up to 54%

What will be the increase in salary on a basic salary of Rs 50,000?

1. Fitment Factor 1.82

New basic salary – ₹50,000 × 1.82 = ₹91,000

New HRA (24%) – ₹21,840

TA – ₹2,160

DA – Zero at the beginning

Total new salary – ₹1,15,000 (approximately 25.5% increase)

2. Fitment Factor 2.15

New Basic Pay – ₹50,000 × 2.15 = ₹1,07,500

New HRA (24%) – ₹25,800

TA – ₹2,160

DA – zero

Total new salary – ₹1,35,460 (approximately 48% increase)

How much will be the in hand salary?

If the current basic pay of a Delhi Police constable is ₹21,700, it may increase to around ₹40,000-₹55,000 under the 8th Pay Commission. However, this will depend on the fitment factor. After adding HRA, TA and other allowances, the take home salary can reach up to ₹60,000-₹70,000.
