Apart from this, passengers booking late are having to pay higher prices. Airlines currently have limited slots and aircraft available, due to which capacity expansion is not possible. This is the reason why ticket prices are continuously skyrocketing.
The prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) have increased in recent times. Additionally, the cost of maintenance, crew and technical support has also increased. All these expenses have a direct impact on the price of tickets.
During the festive season, the biggest jump has been seen in the fares of flights flying from five major cities of India.
The Delhi-Mumbai route is the busiest route in the country and there has been a huge increase in fares on it. Apart from this, fares on Delhi-Kolkata, Delhi-Bengaluru, Delhi-Hyderabad and Delhi-Ahmedabad routes have also doubled.
Due to heavy traffic and limited flights on Mumbai-Delhi and Mumbai-Bengaluru routes, fares have increased rapidly. Along with this, Mumbai-Hyderabad route has also become expensive.
Due to increase in demand on Delhi-Bangalore and Bengaluru-Mumbai routes, there has been a sharp rise in ticket prices.
Durga Puja Airfares to Kolkata have almost doubled since 2015. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad Flights from Kolkata are the most expensive.
There has been an increase of up to 200% in the fares of flights from Hyderabad to Jaipur, Lucknow, Delhi, Bhopal, Patna and Chandigarh.
