Cyber ​​fraudsters have come up with new ways to cheat people. This time the swindlers cheated a general store operator of Rs 2 lakh 55 thousand in the name of getting a doctor’s appointment.

According to the police, Sudhir Nayak, a resident of Ganjipura area, whose wife was suffering from leg problems due to being ill for a long time. For his wife’s treatment, on October 4, he searched the number of the best neuro surgeon online and called the number found in the result. The person who received the call identified himself as a doctor’s assistant and sent a link and an APK file for an appointment the next day. Sudhir Nayak downloaded the file and followed the instructions given in it. It was written in the file to confirm the appointment by depositing only Rs 10, but as soon as he opened the file, his mobile phone got hacked. On October 6, many transactions took place from the account and a total of Rs 2 lakh 55 thousand 682 were withdrawn. After this, the victim realized that he had been cheated when he started receiving continuous messages from the bank. He complained to Lordganj police station and bank, but no hearing took place. Finally on Sunday he registered a case in the cyber cell.

According to cyber expert Inspector Neeraj Negi, this is a new method of fraud. Posing as doctors or their assistants, they are trapping people by sending appointment links. Whereas earlier thugs used to commit fraud by impersonating police, CBI or customs officers. Fraudsters gain access to mobile and bank accounts through APK files.

Cyber ​​Police has appealed to the people not to click on any unknown link or APK file. If there is any suspicious transaction from your account, immediately inform your bank and cyber police.
