AI Degree in the USA: The US offers numerous top universities for studying artificial intelligence and data science. However, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ranks first in the QS World University Rankings by Subject. Carnegie Mellon University is a close second, just a few points behind. Both universities performed well in the QS rankings in categories such as research, employability, and academic reputation, both in the US and abroad.

MIT, located in Cambridge, ranked first in the QS rankings with a score of 98. Similarly, Carnegie Mellon University, located in Pittsburgh, scored 95.5. If you're interested in pursuing a degree in data science and AI, this university should be your first choice. Now the question arises: which is the best institution to study at, how many points did each one score in each category, and how much in fees would one have to pay to study at either? Let's find out the answer.

MIT or Carnegie, which is the best of the two?

If you consider overall rankings, MIT will be the number one, which is its rank. But many other factors also come into play. MIT received a perfect score of 100 in the Employer Reputation category, i.e., its reputation among companies. Its Academic Reputation ranking was 96.9. Carnegie Mellon, which ranked second, had an Academic Reputation ranking of 100, while it scored 87 in Employer Reputation.

This means that students with a degree from MIT will find a job quickly, while Carnegie students may have to wait a little longer. 67% of MIT students are American, while 33% are from abroad. Carnegie Mellon University has 59% American students, while 41% are foreign students. Both universities teach subjects like machine learning, big data analytics, and robotics. Emphasis is placed on both theory and practical application.

What is the tuition fee?
To study data science and artificial intelligence at MIT, you will have to pay approximately ₹52 lakh as one-year fees, while the total fee for a four-year degree will be around ₹2 crore. Similarly, at Carnegie Mellon University, the annual tuition fee is ₹51 lakh, while the four-year fees are also approximately ₹2 crore. Both universities also offer scholarships to students, which even foreign students benefit from.
