New Delhi: TV9 Network kick-started the season 2 of theNews9 ‘Indian Tigers and Tigresses’ football campaign in grand style in Greater Noida. After the successful season 1, the landmark initiative, under which talented boys and girls across India, aged 12 to 14 and 15 to 17, will be scouted, is back with a bang. The campaign will help the young footballers to train and follow their football dreams.

As the official school partner of the TV9 Network’s News9 Indian Tigers and Tigresses campaign, Delhi Public School (DPS) is helping the kids realise their football dreams through the scouting process. DPS Greater Noida is hosting a three-day football tournament for Boys, in which a total of 22 teams are taking part. There are 16 players in each squad, bringing together more than 350 students from various DPS schools across the Delhi-NCR region.

The opening ceremony of the tournament was made extra special by the presence of Chief Guest Shri Balwan Singh, a Dronacharya Award winner and a well-known Kabaddi coach. He praised TV9 Network for the initiative and spoke about the importance of finding young sports talent early. He also encouraged the children to work hard, be disciplined, and stay passionate about sports.

The ceremony was also attended by Chaman Bhandari, Senior Football Coach, Delhi State; Mr Jasmer Singh, Ex-President, Haryana Football Association; Mr Wajid All, Secretary, Football Association, G.B. Nagar; Mr Sumit Rawat, Ex-International Football Player.

Empowering the next generation of football players

The best-performing players from the different school tournaments across India will be selected for the News9 Tigers and Tigresses season 2 finale. In the end, 20 boys and 20 girls will be chosen from the final and will be felicitated in Germany. These selected players will get a chance to train with top coaches, use world-class facilities, and learn from international experiences. 

The News9 Tigers and Tigresses campaign is a powerful program that mixes sports, learning, and opportunity. The young boys and girls will get equal chances to showcase their skills. The initiative aims to build a strong future for Indian football, and with the help of schools like DPS, the second season of the groundbreaking initiative is set to make a big difference.

The initiative is supported by the prestigious organisations from Europe – DFB Pokal, Bundesliga, India Football Centre, IFI, BVB, RIESPO, among others.

In season 1 of the TV9 Network’s ‘ News9 Indian Tigers and Tigresses’, 12 girls and 16 boys, along with three Indian coaches, visited Austria and Germany after months of rigorous trials and a nationwide hunt for young footballing superstars.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a historic send-off to the country’s top young football stars selected in the football talent hunt programme at the ‘What India Thinks Today 2025’ (WITT 2025) Global Summit in New Delhi. Organised by TV9, India’s largest news network, the Global Summit was held in March 22025, at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.
