Finance Department issued order

State government finance secretary Prashant Kumar issued an official resolution in this regard on Thursday. According to the order, dearness allowance will be payable on basic pay under defined rule 34A of Jharkhand Service Code, whereas it will not be applicable on special pay, personal pay etc.

This decision taken by the government will put an additional burden of approximately Rs 393 crore on the state exchequer every year. Despite this, the government has taken this decision to provide relief to the government employees from the rising impact of inflation.

Benefits to state employees as per the center

The Finance Secretary said that in the letter issued by the Central Government on October 6, 2025, dearness allowance for central employees has been increased from 55 percent to 58 percent from July 1, 2025. Accordingly, the Jharkhand government has also decided to give increased allowance to the state employees under the seventh pay scale.

The state government had already revised the pay scales of state employees as per the Seventh Pay Commission through a resolution dated 18 January 2017. It has been mentioned in paragraph 9 of that resolution that dearness allowance will be given to the state employees as per the Centre.

Who will get increased dearness allowance?

All those employees of the state, whose salaries have been revised with effect from January 1, 2016 under the resolution dated January 18, 2017, will now be given 58 percent dearness allowance from July 1, 2025. This increase will be applicable only on basic pay.

This decision of the government, just before Diwali, has created a wave of happiness among government employees and pensioners. Employee organizations have welcomed this decision of the government and called it a big relief in the era of inflation.
