Mumbai, October 18 (Read): Bollywood veteran Jackie Shroff’s iconic film Teri Meherbanian has completed 40 years since its release. On this special occasion, the actor took to Instagram to share nostalgic memories from the film that remains close to his heart.

Jackie posted a memorable clip from the movie, captioning it, “40 years of Teri Meherbaniyaan.” The 1985 hit was directed by Vijay and produced by K.C. Bokadia, featuring Jackie Shroff and Poonam Dhillon in the lead roles. The film was a major box-office success at the time of its release.

The story revolved around the deep bond between a man and his loyal dog, Moti. The emotional connection between Jackie and Moti touched audiences deeply, making the film one of the most heartwarming tales of its era. Moti’s act of avenging his master’s death turned him into one of the most unforgettable animal characters in Indian cinema.

One famous anecdote from the film’s shoot recalls how Moti — whose real name was Brownie — once bit Jackie by mistake. During a break, Brownie was resting on Jackie’s chair, and as the actor tried to sit down, the dog nipped him, thinking someone was disturbing his space. The incident, often shared with laughter, remains a fond memory from the set.

Moti’s importance in the film was such that the shoot would not begin until “Moti saab” arrived on set. Even after decades, this story continues to be cherished by Jackie’s fans.

Teri Meherbanian is still remembered not just for its touching storyline but also for Jackie’s powerful performance and the dog’s incredible loyalty. Its timeless song “Aaja Meri Jaan” continues to be popular even today.
