Bihar Diwali Celebration: There was a time when Bihar’s identity was linked to crime and muscle power. Less crops were sown in the fields and more guns. In that period, both power and system worked at the behest of powerful leaders. But now the new generation of the same musclemen is moving forward on the path of education and system, not crime.
The story of Kamdev Singh, who is called the smuggler emperor of Begusarai, is the biggest example of this. He was once wanted by Interpol, he sent his son Raj Kumar Singh to Delhi for studies. Raj Kumar graduated from Ramjas College and made a name for himself through his hard work. Now he is a candidate from JDU from Matihani seat and has returned to politics with a clean image.
Similarly, Anand Mohan Singh, whose name was famous in the Gopalganj DM Krishnayya murder case, also kept his son Chetan Anand away from crime while in jail. Chetan has studied from Welham Boys School in Dehradun and is now contesting from Nabinagar seat from JDU. Anand Mohan also wrote three books while in jail and inspired others on the path of education.
Shivani Shukla, daughter of Dr. Vijay Kumar Shukla alias Munna Shukla of Vaishali, also gave a new dimension to her father’s legacy through education. After studying from Delhi Public School and University of Leeds, London, she is now RJD candidate from Lalganj.
Whereas former Arrah MLA Sunil Pandey, who once had 23 criminal cases against him, is now taking his son Vishal Prashant forward with new thinking in politics. Vishal is the youth face of BJP and his wife Aishwarya Raj has been ‘Mrs. Bihar 2025’. Among all these, there are names like Pappu Yadav and Anant Singh, who kept their children away from the shadow of crime.
Bihar, once a symbol of the confluence of crime and politics, is now on the path of change. The new generation of these powerful leaders is proving that a person becomes a criminal due to circumstances, but education can make him a soldier of the system. This is the true identity of the new era of Bihar.
