Drivers on the M62 are facing delays of up to an hour this morning following a "multi-vehicle collision".

Two lanes on the eastbound side of the motorway near Warrington have been closed, while lanes three and four are currently shut between junction eight for Burtonwood and junction nine for Warrington.

National Highways wrote on X: "*Delays have now exceeded 60 minutes* Lanes 3 and 4 (of 4) are closed on the #M62 eastbound between J8 (#Burtonwood) and J9 (#Warrington) due to a multi-vehicle collision.

"Emergency services are working on scene. Please allow plenty journey time if possible."
