Haryana Metro: Big news is coming out from Haryana. Under the Old Gurugram Metro Project, a plan has been prepared to extend the metro up to Gurugram Railway Station to increase the convenience of passengers. RITES has submitted its detailed report to Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL), which is estimated to cost around Rs 454 crore.
GMRL will now place this expansion plan before the Haryana Government and the Union Urban Housing Ministry for approval. This extension is an important step towards increasing the ridership on the Old Gurugram Metro route. Haryana Metro
According to the report prepared by RITES, a 1.80 KM long new metro track will be built to reach Gurugram railway station. For this expansion, a total of 1069 square meters of land will be required for the construction of metro station at the railway station.
419 square meters of Haryana Government’s land, 446 square meters of private land and 204 square meters of Railway Department’s land are included, which will be used to build entry and exit gates. Apart from this, 605 square meters of land will also be required at Sector-5 metro station. The installation of escalator at the railway station alone will cost around Rs 12.70 crore. Haryana Metro
Under the Old Gurugram Metro project, a 28.5 KM long route and 27 stations are proposed. In this new scheme, an interchange station will be built in Sector-5, which will also connect to the proposed metro route coming from Bhondsi (the DPR of which has been submitted to the RITES by HMRTC). At present, the Old Gurugram Metro will be extended from Sector-5 to the railway station.
The construction work of the first phase of Old Gurugram Metro has started on the ground. Excavation work of pillars is going on near the traffic signal in Sector-31, while the work of building a casting yard on 25 acres of land in Transport Nagar, Sector-33 has also started. The metro manufacturing company has set up its office and the construction work is expected to gain further momentum from next month. The construction of the first phase will cost Rs 1277 crore. This extension up to Gurugram railway station will be included in the second phase of the metro. After the approval of the GMRL Board, it will be included in the tender documents of the second phase after getting approval from the Government of Haryana and the Ministry of Urban Housing. In the first phase, metro is proposed to be constructed from Millennium City Center to Sector-9 and in the second phase from Sector-9 to DLF Cyber City.
