Delhi CM Rekha Gupta on Air Pollution: After Diwali, the air quality in Delhi has reached very poor levels. Due to which Aam Aadmi Party leaders are targeting the government. Meanwhile, a big statement from CM Rekha Gupta regarding AQI has come out. CM Rekha Gupta says that pollution on Diwali is less as compared to the tenure of previous governments.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta addressed a press conference on Wednesday. Meanwhile, on air quality in the national capital, he said, “We all have seen the figures. If we compare the figures (AQI) the day after Diwali with previous governments, the numbers have come down. Although bursting of firecrackers was allowed, the difference (AQI) between Diwali and the next day has come down, which is a sign of reduction in pollution. The government is doing whatever is possible for Delhi.”
On Chhath Puja preparations, CM Rekha Gupta said, “For years, the government had banned Chhath Puja on the Yamuna river. The government was not organizing the puja. This time, after our government came, we have removed that ban and we are providing all the arrangements. The government is constructing model Chhath ghats at 17 places along the Yamuna river. This year, the number of Chhath puja sites in the city is expected to increase significantly compared to previous years.”
Delhi CM further said, ‘Last year, Chhath programs were organized at only 929 places. But till date, we have received more than 1000 applications from committees to celebrate Chhath Puja. Apart from the 17 ghats we are building on river Yamuna, the government will provide all necessary arrangements for all these 1000 ghats, or the number of ghats that will be built by the deadline. This includes tents, electricity, sanitation and toilets.
He said, “At least one model Chhath Ghat will be built in every district and sub-district. Grand welcome gates will be built. Special arrangements have been made at various places across Delhi for Chhath Vratis. Flowers will be showered on them and they will be welcomed. Keeping in mind the overall religious atmosphere, cultural programs will also be organized in Bhojpuri and Maithili languages…”
