For India’s pensioners, submitting the annual life certificate — known as Jeevan Pramaan Patra — has often meant long queues at banks and post offices. But now, with the government’s digital initiative, this process has become entirely online and hassle-free. Senior citizens can now submit their digital life certificate (DLC) right from the comfort of their homes through doorstep banking or India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).

This service, powered by Aadhaar-based biometric authentication, ensures that pensioners no longer need to visit their pension disbursing offices. Here’s everything you need to know about how to use this service, who can apply, and how to book doorstep verification.

What is Jeevan Pramaan Patra?

The Jeevan Pramaan Patra is a digital life certificate introduced by the Government of India in November 2014. It serves as proof that a pensioner is alive, which is necessary for the continuation of pension benefits. Traditionally, this required in-person verification at the bank or post office, but the digital version makes it easier and faster.

Through this system, a pensioner’s identity is verified using Aadhaar authentication, and the certificate is automatically sent to the relevant pension authority.

Who Can Use This Service?

This facility is available for both government and non-government pensioners.

  • Senior citizens aged 80 years or above can submit their life certificate between October 1 and November 30, 2025.

  • Pensioners aged 60 to 80 years can complete the process between November 1 and November 30, 2025.

Options to Submit Jeevan Pramaan Patra

There are two main ways to submit your digital life certificate:

1. Through Doorstep Banking (PSB Alliance)

Public Sector Banks offer doorstep banking under the PSB Alliance platform. Pensioners can book a home visit, and a bank representative will visit to capture biometric data and submit the certificate digitally.

2. Through India Post Payments Bank (IPPB)

India Post also offers doorstep submission through postmen or Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS). You can request this service online or via the Post Info App.

How to Request Doorstep Service from IPPB

You can easily book a doorstep visit using one of the following methods:

Once booked, a postman or GDS will visit your home, perform Aadhaar-based biometric verification, and generate your Digital Life Certificate (DLC) instantly.

Charges for the Service

  • For both IPPB customers and non-customers, the doorstep visit is completely free.

  • After the certificate is generated and the Pramaan ID is issued, a nominal fee of ₹70 (including GST) is charged.

  • Pensioners using PSB Alliance doorstep banking can avail of this service free of cost as well.

Documents and Eligibility Requirements

Before applying, make sure you have the following:

  • Aadhaar number linked with your pension account.

  • Mobile number linked with Aadhaar.

  • Details of your Pension Payment Order (PPO), account number, and department name.

  • The pension-drawing bank or post office must have your Aadhaar registered.

Steps to Book Doorstep Banking via the DSB App

  1. Download the DSB Mobile App (Doorstep Banking App).

  2. Enter your mobile number and log in using OTP or PIN.

  3. Select your bank name and enter your PIN code.

  4. The app will confirm if service is available in your area.

  5. Choose the type of service, address, and time slot.

  6. Confirm the booking — a Service Request (SR) ID and Service Verification Code (SVC) will be sent to your mobile.

  7. On the scheduled date, a bank agent or postman will visit your home to complete the biometric verification and submit your Jeevan Pramaan Patra.

How to Download Your Digital Life Certificate

Once your Digital Life Certificate (DLC) is successfully generated, you will receive an SMS with a transaction ID. You can then:

  1. Visit the official website: www.jeevanpramaan.gov.in

  2. Enter your Pramaan ID or transaction ID.

  3. Download your Jeevan Pramaan Patra instantly.

Why This Matters for Pensioners

The digital transformation of the Jeevan Pramaan Patra has made the pension process more transparent, efficient, and senior citizen–friendly. Pensioners no longer have to travel long distances or wait in queues. With Aadhaar-based authentication and doorstep support, the system ensures convenience, safety, and timely pension disbursement.

This initiative marks another big step towards Digital India, simplifying essential services for millions of pensioners across the country.
