EJAE opens up about trainee days, credits Girls' Generation's Yuri for success
Singer-songwriter EJAE, who is also known as the mastermind voice behind one of the characters of ' KPop Demon Hunters ,' recently opened up about the kind of success that came from the show. She talked about the animated film and even shared what inspires her to do the film as well.
EJAE opens up about her role in 'K-Pop Demon Hunters'
The singer, who initially began her journey in the K-pop industry as a trainee for more than 5 years, recently got candid about her time over the years, as well as the story behind the animated film's lead single, 'Golden,' which went viral online.
While starring on ' You Quiz on the Block ,' for their episode on October 22, the artist revealed that at one point in her career, she used to train alongside big names in the industry such as Girls Generation , Super Junior , SHINee , f(x), and EXO.
She revealed that she had been training since she was 11 years old, and over that time period, her mental health had deteriorated a lot. However, she revealed that one of the reasons behind her not giving up her dream and continuing on her path was through one of the Girls Generation members, Yuri .
During the interview, the hit singer shared, “Yuri unnie came in while I was singing and told me, ‘You’re going to be something. You work so hard—you’ll definitely succeed.’ That moment has stayed with me forever.”
She was a trainee in the company from 2003 to 2015, and initially after not being able to properly debut in a K-pop group, she left the company and started working more extensively on the production and composition as well as the lyric writing.
She also shared during the interview that she started her journey as a trainee at the mere age of 11 and that "I was the first one to go to the practice room at 7 in the morning, turned on all the lights, and was the last one to leave at 11 at night. I really worked hard. Looking back now, I'm amazed at how hard I worked at such a young age."
