The two major Tamil movies that released this Diwali were Pradeep Ranganathan starrer Dude and Vikram’s son Dhruv Vikram’s Bison Kaalamaadan.

Directed by Keerthiswaran, Dude also starring Mamitha Baiju opened big and eventually became his second Rs 100 crore grosser in a row after Dragon which released earlier this year and made Rs 150 crore.

On the other hand, Bison Kaalamaadan directed by Mari Selvaraj opened on a poor note but due to solid reviews and word of mouth, it eventually sustained well over the next week and has now emerged a big box office success.

The Big Diwali Box Office Battle: Bison Finally Takes Over Dude

According to Pinkvilla, Dude made Rs 66.75 crore at India box office in week one and in its second weekend, it collected Rs 10 crore taking its 10-day all-India total to Rs 76.75 crore with Rs 51 crore coming from Tamil Nadu alone.

At the worldwide box office, the movie has made Rs 103.50 crore with Rs 27 crore coming from overseas.

After the solid biz during Diwali, Dude suffered a big drop in its biz which reflects the mixed reaction from the audiences.

Bison Kaalamaadan, on the other hand, made Rs 34 crore in week one in India but in its second weekend it made more money than Dude.

Bison collected Rs 10.75 crore in the weekend two taking its all-India total to Rs 44.75 crore out of which Rs 39.75 crore have come from Tamil Nadu alone.

At the worldwide box office, Bison Kaalamaadan has made Rs 52 crore approx with Rs 7 crore coming from the overseas markets.

The point to be noted here is that Dude had a much bigger and wider release than Bison Kaalamaadan in both India and overseas.

With this, Dhruv Vikram has delivered the first box office hit of his career while Pradeep Ranganathan has further established himself as the legit new-age box office star of Tamil cinema.
