Ola Uber Alternative Bharat Taxi Service: Now private cab services like Ola and Uber are going to face a big challenge in India. The central government is soon going to start the country’s first cooperative taxi service “Bharat Taxi Service”. The aim of this government initiative is to give drivers full rights to their earnings and provide safe, affordable and reliable taxi services to passengers.

Big change for both drivers and passengers

For the last several years, there have been complaints from both passengers and drivers regarding app-based taxi service platforms. While passengers have to face problems like increased fares, sudden cancellations and surge pricing, drivers have to suffer losses due to the companies’ high commission rates. Often up to 25% of the drivers’ income goes to the companies as commission. But now after this new initiative of the government, the drivers’ earnings will go directly into their hands and they will not have to pay their share to any private aggregator.

Pilot project will start in November

This scheme of the Central Government will currently be started as a pilot project. This project will start in the month of November with 650 taxis and their drivers in Delhi. If it is successful, it will be expanded to the entire country from December. The government aims to extend this service to other metropolitan cities in the coming months.

Bharat Seva Taxi will run on membership model

The most special thing about this taxi service is that the drivers will not have to pay any commission. Instead they will be engaged under a membership model in which they will make a small contribution in the form of a daily, weekly or monthly fee. The government claims that this model will directly increase the income of drivers and passengers will get the facility to travel at affordable fares.

Target to add 1 lakh drivers by 2030

The government plans to extend Bharat Seva Taxi to metros, district headquarters and rural areas across the country in the coming years. The goal is to connect more than 1 lakh drivers with this platform by 2030, so that an organized and safe taxi network can be created across the country.
