New Delhi: Suzuki has revealed the updated version of its compact crossover, the XBEE (Crossbee), at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. This model was first launched in 2017, and the new version has several changes inside and outside. It now uses Suzuki’s Z12E petrol engine, the same one used in the latest Swift sold in India.

While the XBEE is only available in Japan, Suzuki has no plans to launch it in India yet. But if it ever comes here, it would likely compete with compact crossovers available in the country, like the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter.

In terms of design, the new XBEE continues with its boxy and tall look, which makes it somewhat similar to the Maruti S-Presso. However, it is around 200mm longer and has a more grown-up appeal. The 2025 update brings round LED headlamps, a new grille with silver accents, and thicker body cladding for a rugged look. Suzuki has also added new dual-tone paint options and fresh alloy wheels, making the car look more stylish and premium.

Inside, the XBEE gets a revised cabin layout. It features a new steering wheel, similar to the one seen in newer Maruti models, and a digital instrument cluster. The centre console now has updated switches, while the gear lever console has a floating design that gives the cabin a modern feel. The infotainment screen sits high on the dashboard, resembling the one in the Jimny. Despite its compact size, the XBEE is cleverly designed to make the most of the available space, with multiple storage areas throughout the cabin.

The new XBEE is built on Suzuki’s Heartect platform. The older model came with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, but the facelifted version now uses a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder mild-hybrid petrol engine. It is paired with a CVT gearbox and powers the front wheels only, focusing on better efficiency and smoother performance.
