Aadhaar Address Update 2025: Now you can change your Aadhaar card address online sitting at home, but for change in name you will still have to go to the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra. As per the official services and recent announcements of UIDAI, Self Service Update Portal (SSUP / myAadhaar) is available for online address update, while name- issues can be done directly by visiting the centre.

Address update online, and document update by uploading document proof. You can avail this service from myAadhaar/SSUP portal. To change the name or make a major amendment in the name, you will have to go to the Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Centre.

Easy way to change address at home, step by step (Aadhaar Address Update 2025)

1. Open MyAadhaar portal: Or visit Self Service Update Portal (SSUP) on the official site of UIDAI.

2. Login: Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number. For OTP on the portal, the mobile number registered in Aadhaar should be the same.

3. Select ‘Update Address’: Fill in the new address details carefully.

4. Upload supporting documents: Upload scan/photo of Valid Proof of Address (POA) — Documents should be as per UIDAI list. (Ex. Passport, Driving License, Bank Passbook, PAN Card, see valid list).

5. Submit and get ACK number: After submitting, you will get an SR (Update Request) number/ACK, note it down.

6. Verification: UIDAI or the concerned authorities will verify your documents and details; If successful, a new e-Aadhaar will be issued/updated.

Check the list of Proof of Address accepted by UIDAI; Some common documents: Passport, Driving License, Voter ID, Bank Statement/Passbook, Electricity/Bill, Rent Agreement (other valid proofs are also listed). The file to be uploaded should be a clear and colored scan.

How much time does it take and fees

The update process after online submission can usually take a few days to a few weeks depending on the verification. Want to change name? keep this in mind

Correction/change in name may require visiting an Aadhaar Seva Kendra, filling up a form, document verification and – if necessary – providing additional proof such as Gazette Notification/Court Order. As per official information from UIDAI, name- updates are not available online; Therefore, it is not possible to change the name sitting at home.
