JEE Main 2026 Guidelines: The online application process for the JEE Main 2026 exam has begun. The NTA has also issued some guidelines. During the application, candidates will be required to upload their personal and educational information, along with a passport-sized photo, signature, and scanned copies of required certificates. Candidates whose verification cannot be done through Aadhaar or DigiLocker will be required to submit a scanned copy of their identity proof.

The NTA has also made a significant change this time, which will directly impact exam preparation. In the revised notification, the agency has clarified that the use of any form of calculator will be prohibited during the JEE Main 2026 exam. The previously released brochure stated that an onscreen calculator would be available during the Computer-Based Test (CBT). The NTA has corrected the error, stating that this feature is part of the general CBT platform, but does not apply to the JEE Main exam.

JEE Main Application Process and Identity Verification Rules

Candidates must keep the following important points in mind during the registration process for the JEE Main 2026 exam:

Aadhaar/DigiLocker Verification
Identity Verification: Candidates will be given the option to verify their identity through Aadhaar or DigiLocker when registering online.

Mandatory Scanned Copy: If a candidate's identity cannot be verified through Aadhaar or DigiLocker, they must submit a scanned copy of their identity proof (such as another government ID).

Document Upload: Candidates must upload scanned copies of their latest color passport-sized photo (face must be clearly visible), signature, Class 10 marksheet/certificate, and disability certificate (if applicable).

JEE Main 2026 Timeline

Can calculators be used in the JEE exam hall?
The National Testing Agency has issued clear instructions to clear up confusion regarding the JEE Main 2026 exam:
No on-screen calculator facility: The NTA has clarified in the revised information bulletin that no calculators, whether on-screen or physical, can be used.
Reason for confusion: This clarification was necessary because the previously released brochure stated that an on-screen calculator would be available during the Computer-Based Test (CBT).

NTA Clarification: The NTA stated in the notice that this feature is part of the common exam conduction platform and does not apply to the JEE (Main) exam, as calculators are not used in any form during this exam.

This change will force students to do calculations manually or mentally during the exam, which will test their speed and accuracy.
