The Ramgarh Dam, a crucial water source for the city, is on track to be replenished. The government has approved a plan under the revised IRC-PKC Ramjal Water Bridge project, which involves an investment of ₹1915 crore to transport water from the Isarda Dam to the Ramgarh Dam via pipelines. A private company from Hyderabad has completed the strip survey necessary for laying the pipelines and will soon submit the survey report to the government. The project aims to channel water into the Ramgarh Dam within the next three years.
Significant progress is being made towards bringing water from the Isarda Dam to the Ramgarh Dam. The technical team from the Hyderabad-based company has finalized the strip survey for the pipeline installation. According to the engineers, approximately 104 kilometers of pipeline will be laid between the Isarda and Ramgarh Dams.
This pipeline will have a diameter of 3000 mm (around ten feet) and will be installed at a depth of three meters. To facilitate the water transfer, two pumping stations will be constructed at designated locations, which will be determined shortly. The survey also included measuring the elevation from sea level between the Isarda Dam and Ramgarh.
As part of the project, around 80 to 85 kilometers of pipeline and approximately 20 kilometers of canals will be constructed. The entire project is expected to be completed within three years, fulfilling the aspiration of fully replenishing the Ramgarh Dam. Notably, on June 5, during World Environment Day, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and the editor of a prominent media group inaugurated the Ramgarh Dam restoration program.
Following the initiation of the Ramgarh Dam restoration program, a labor donation campaign was conducted by a local media outlet for over two months, focusing on excavation and cleaning efforts. This initiative has significantly improved the dam's condition. However, despite good rainfall during this year's monsoon season, the dam has only seen a partial inflow of water.
The Rajasthan government has allocated ₹1915 crore in its initial budget for the IRC-PKC revised Ramjal Water Bridge project to facilitate water supply from Isarda to Ramgarh Dam. This initiative was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
