New Delhi. According to CRISIL's Monthly Food Plate Cost Indicator, the average price of a domestic veg thali has declined by 17% on an annual basis to ₹ 27.8 in October 2025. Last year i.e. in October-2024, the price of veg thali was Rs 33.3. CRISIL report states that the price of veg thali in September 2025 was Rs 28.1. That means it has become cheaper by about 1% in the last one month.
In October 2025, the average price of non-veg thali has also become cheaper by 12% on annual basis to Rs 54.4. In the same period last year, its price was Rs 61.6. Whereas, if seen on monthly basis, the price of non-veg thali in September 2025 was Rs 56.
According to CRISIL report, the decline in prices of vegetables, especially potatoes, onions, tomatoes and pulses last month, has had an impact on the veg thali. On an annual basis, the price of tomato has decreased by an average of 40%, that of potato by 31% and that of onion by 51%. Apart from this, pulses have also become cheaper by 17% on an average. At the same time, if we talk about non-veg thali, there is a decrease in it due to low prices of chicken. Chicken has become cheaper by 6% on an annual basis.
CRISIL has calculated the average cost of preparing a thali at home based on the current prices of food items in North, South, East and West India. The veg thali includes roti, vegetables (onions, tomatoes and potatoes), dal, rice, curd and salad, while the non-veg thali includes chicken in place of dal.
