Pollution has reached dangerous levels in many parts of the country including Delhi-NCR. It is becoming difficult to breathe amidst dust, smoke and poisonous particles. In such a situation, many families are using air purifiers in their homes so that the air can be kept clean to some extent. Air purifier filters dust, smoke, bacteria and harmful particles present in the air, providing clean and breathable air. It is especially beneficial for children, elderly and asthma patients.

newborn children The immune system of children is not fully developed, hence the harmful particles of pollution quickly affect them. Their breathing rate is higher than that of adults, due to which they inhale more poisonous particles present in the air. Due to this, they may suffer from cough, cold, shortness of breath, eye irritation and skin related problems. Prolonged exposure to polluted air can affect lung function, which later causes problems like asthma or bronchitis. In such a situation, let us know whether it is safe to keep a newborn baby in an air purifier.

Is it safe to keep a newborn baby in an air purifier amid increasing pollution?

Dr. Himanshu Bhadani of Pediatric Department of AIIMS It is said that no long-term study has been done on this subject till now, but in view of increasing pollution, clean air is important for everyone, especially for newborns and small children. Air purifiers help in removing dust, smog and harmful particles from the air, which can provide relief to the child.

However, this does not guarantee complete security. If the level of pollution in the house is high or the surrounding environment is very polluted, then the use of a purifier can be beneficial. But it is not right to run it continuously or keep the child too close to it. It should always be used as per doctor's advice and requirement.

Keep these things in mind also

Open the windows of the room for some time during the day so that ventilation is maintained.

Clean or change the filter of the air purifier from time to time.

Do not allow smoking or incense smoke to spread in the room.

Keep the child away from dust and dirt even inside the house.

Do not depend completely on air purifiers, take care of plants and cleanliness also.
