Bollywood’s recent release ‘Haq’ has completed its first week in theatres. However, it is sad that this courtroom drama starring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam has not been able to even recover its budget yet. The film’s collection remained satisfactory even on the seventh day of its release, but the total earning is still quite low.
This film was released on 7 November 2025. This film by director Suparn S Verma is inspired by the Shah Bano case, which shows a woman’s fight for rights and justice. Imran plays the role of a lawyer, while Yami plays the character of a strong woman. Vartika Singh, Sheeba Chaddha and Danish Hussain also star in important roles.
This film is produced by Junglee Pictures, Insomnia Films and Bajwa Studios. Its budget is around Rs 40 crore, which also includes printing and publicity expenses. According to reports, ‘Haq’ opened to Rs 1.75 crore on the first day. There was an increase in the second day and Rs 3.35 crore came. The film earned Rs 4.45 crore on the third day over the weekend, but declined in the midweek.
The film earned Rs 2.50 crore on the fourth day, Rs 1.80 crore on the fifth day and Rs 1.50 crore on the sixth day. The preliminary figures for the seventh day (14 November) showed a collection of Rs 1.10 crore. Overall, the net collection in India has reached around Rs 14 crore in the first seven days. It has grossed Rs 14.74 crore globally, of which only $0.17 million (about Rs 1.42 crore) is contributed by the overseas market. Now the question is whether ‘Haq’ was a hit or a flop? The simple answer is – flop. Only 35% of the budget has been recovered.
Experts believe that word of mouth led to some growth over the weekend, but competition from the likes of Thaama and Kantara Chapter 1 took a toll. It collected Rs 8.95 crore in the opening weekend, which was less than expected. If the second week is good, maybe it will reach Rs 25-30 crore, but it is difficult to make profit. The film is being appreciated, and fans are now waiting for its release on OTT, where it might perform better. It has overtaken Emraan’s previous film Ground Zero (Rs 7.77 crore lifetime), but expectations were high. Overall, ‘Haq’ is a good film, but it has proved weak at the box office.
