UP Senior Citizens Pension Rule: Now, eligible senior citizens in Uttar Pradesh will receive their pension directly into their bank accounts upon reaching the age of 60, eliminating the hassle of applying.

UP Senior Citizens Pension Rule: The Uttar Pradesh government runs numerous schemes for the people of the state. Some of these schemes are specifically for the elderly. Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government took a major decision for the elderly in the state. Now, they will start receiving their pension as soon as they reach the age of 60. There will be no need to apply separately for this. This facility will be provided under the One Family, One Identity (Family ID) system.

This will automatically identify eligible citizens, and upon consent, the pension will be transferred directly to their bank accounts. Currently, 67.50 lakh senior citizens in the state are benefiting from this scheme. However, a large number of people are excluded from the pension due to their inability to complete the process. With the introduction of the new system, many more senior citizens will benefit.

Pension will begin upon reaching the age of 60

According to the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet decision, eligible senior citizens' pensions will now automatically begin upon reaching the age of 60. The Social Welfare Department will identify eligible beneficiaries using the Family ID system and obtain their consent through digital means such as SMS, WhatsApp, or calls. If consent is not obtained digitally, departmental employees will contact them in person to obtain their consent. This process will eliminate the hassle of applying and ensure that pensions reach every senior citizen on time.

This process will simplify the process.

The new system will make it easier for senior citizens to receive their pension. After automatic identification and consent, the scheme officer will issue an approval with a digital signature within 15 days, which will be sent to the beneficiary by post. The pension will then be sent directly to the beneficiary's bank account, and each transaction will be reported via SMS.

In addition, all payment details will be accessible via a mobile app, similar to a passbook. Door-to-door support will also be provided by Gram Panchayat Assistants or Common Service Centers. This government decision will make it much easier for many elderly people to access their pensions.
