Chhattisgarh News: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, during his stay in Bilaspur today, unveiled the life-size statue of donor Gond king Raghuraj Singh Jagat at Raghuraj Stadium located in the center of the city. This historic stadium has been built on about 5 acres of land donated by Raja Raghuraj Singh Jagat of Pandariya Zamindari in the heart of the city. Many indoor sports competitions including cricket are organized here. It is known that Pandariya Zamindari was included in the western border of undivided Bilaspur district.
In the year 1958, King Raghuraj Singh Jagat had donated his valuable land situated in the heart of Bilaspur city for the development of sports. The stadium has been built on the land donated by him to promote sports activities. The Physical Cultural Society currently maintains it. Raja Raghuraj Singh Cricket Stadium has been witness to many Ranji matches. The stadium has also hosted three Ranji matches against the Madhya Pradesh cricket team and the Railways cricket team against the Vidarbha cricket team in 1978, 1979 and 1981.
Apart from this, players who have played many national and international matches here have proved their talent. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai met the players at the stadium and encouraged them. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in-charge of the district Arun Sao, MLA Dharamlal Kaushik, Amar Aggarwal, Dharamjit Singh, Sushant Shukla, Mayor Pooja Vidhani, Collector Sanjay Aggarwal, SSP Rajnesh Singh and a large number of public representatives, officers and distinguished citizens were present.
