BPSC Result 2025: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) released the results of the 71st Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) Prelims yesterday evening, November 18, 2025. Candidates who appeared for the exam on September 13 can now check their roll numbers. The competition was very tough. 3.16 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, and only 14,261 qualified for the Mains. This means that only 4-5 out of 100 candidates passed the exam.

BPSC 71st Prelims Result 2025 Out: How Many Candidates Passed?
In the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 71st Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), a total of 13,368 candidates qualified for the Mains CCE, and a separate 893 were successful for the Financial Administrative Officer (FAO) post. A total of 14,261 candidates will appear for the Mains exam. These recruitments are being conducted for a total of 1,298 posts, including DSP and SDM positions.

BPSC 71st Prelims Result 2025: What was the cutoff?

The cutoff for the 71st Combined Competitive Examination of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) was slightly lower this time, as the paper was slightly tougher than moderate. The cutoff for General category candidates was 88 marks, EWS 82.33, OBC 84, Extremely Backward Class 81, SC 72, and ST 71.33. The good news is that 211 candidates scored more than 100 marks.

Checking the results is quite simple. Just go to bpsc.bihar.gov.in or bpsc.bih.nic.in. The homepage will display a link to the 71st Combined Preliminary Exam Result. Clicking on it will download a PDF. Search for your roll number by pressing Ctrl+F. If your name appears, you have been selected for the Mains.

What's next?
The Preliminary exam was just a GATE pass; the actual exam will be held now. Candidates who pass the Preliminary exam will now have to appear for the Mains exam. The Mains date hasn't been finalized yet, but the BPSC will release a notification soon. Usually, the Mains exam is held 1-2 months after the Preliminary results, so this exam could be held in December or January.

How many papers are there in the Mains?
The Mains exam of the 71st Combined Competitive Examination of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will have a total of three papers. All will be descriptive, meaning written answers. The first paper will be General Hindi, carrying 100 marks, but its marks will not be counted in the final merit list. Passing is essential. You must score at least 30 marks on this paper; otherwise, the remaining papers will not be checked. All questions will be long-answer questions. The second paper will be GS-1 (General Studies), carrying 300 marks. The third paper will be GS-2, also carrying 300 marks. The fourth paper will be an optional subject, selected when applying. This will also carry 300 marks. Each paper will be 3 hours long. This means the Mains exam will carry a total of 1000 marks, and these marks will count towards the final merit list. After clearing the Mains exam, there will be an interview, followed by final selection.
