World's Largest Shivalinga in Bihar: A 33-foot Shivalinga is ready for the world's largest Virat Ramayana temple being built at Chakia in East Champaran, Bihar. The construction of this Shivalinga has been going on for the last 10 years in Pattikadu village of Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu. This 33 feet Shivalinga is made of granite stone. On Friday, November 21, 2025, it was taken from Mahabalipuram to Virata Ramayana Temple in Champaran on a 96-wheeler truck.
Before sending the Shivalinga, a puja was performed in which the villagers also participated. Vinayak Venkataraman, founder of the company making Shivling, said that it cost about ₹ 3 crore to make it. This Shivalinga will be installed in the Virat Ramayana temple around February next year. However, it is expected that it will be installed in the temple by mid-January.
The artists have spent 10 years in making this big Shivalinga. It will take about 20 to 25 days to transport the Shivalinga from Mahabalipuram to the Virat Ramayana temple in East Champaran, Bihar. The weight of Shivalinga is 210 metric tons. The company making Shivling said that people will be able to see it in many states and cities on the way.
This is the largest Shivalinga installed in any temple in India. Mahavir Mandir Trust Committee is constructing Virat Ramayana Temple. The work of Ganesh Sthal, Singh Dwar, Nandi, Shivling and sanctum sanctorum at the entrance of the temple has been completed. Virat Ramayana temple will be 1080 feet long and 540 feet wide. It will have a total of 18 towers and 22 temples. The main minaret will be 270 feet high, four minarets will be 180 feet high, one minaret will be 135 feet high, eight minarets will be 108 feet high, and one minaret will be 90 feet high.
The foundation of this temple was laid on June 20, 2023. This temple is being built in Janakinagar between Kesariya and Chakia in East Champaran district of Bihar. The distance of this temple from Patna is about 110 kilometers. From Mahabalipuram, this Shivalinga will be brought to Chakia Virat Ramayana Temple via Hosur, Hoskote, Devanahalli, Kurnool, Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Nagpur, Seoni, Jabalpur, Company, Maihar, Satna, Rewa, Mirzapur, Arrah, Chhapra, Masrakh, Mohammadpur and Kesariya.
This Shivalinga will be installed in the Virat Ramayana Temple located at Chakia in East Champaran, Bihar.
The Shivalinga was built in the village from rocks from Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu.
It is 33 feet high and weighs approximately 210 piston tons.
The artists took 10 years to prepare this Shivalinga.
It will take approximately 20–25 days to reach Champaran from Mahabalipuram by 96-hill truck.
