News Desk. There is relief news for the electricity consumers of Uttar Pradesh. The state government has decided to implement the Electricity Bill Relief Scheme with the aim of providing huge discount to the defaulters, which will start from December 1. Under this scheme, thousands of domestic and commercial consumers will get great help in settling the outstanding bills.

Surcharge waived off completely, rebate on principal amount

The entire late fee on outstanding electricity bills will be waived off. Along with this, a provision has been made to give a maximum discount of up to 25% on the principal amount of the bill. This discount will be given to consumers making lump sum payment.

Registration facility in three steps

To provide the benefits of the scheme, the Electricity Department has divided the registration process into three stages. Consumers can register themselves at any stage within these dates. The sooner the registration is done, the more timely investigation and benefits will be ensured.

First step: 1 December – 31 December 2025

Second step: 1 January – 31 January 2026

third step : 1 February – 28 February 2026

Camps will be organized feeder wise

The department is preparing to organize feeder wise camps to provide information and on-the-spot assistance about the scheme to the consumers. The defaulters are being motivated to avail the benefits of the scheme through field staff, village heads and local representatives.

50% discount in cases of electricity theft

Those consumers against whom a case of electricity theft is registered, or the case is pending in the court, are also included in this scheme. It has been decided to give discount up to 50% in such special cases. People whose connection has been disconnected will have to apply for a new connection on the Chhatpat portal and submit the receipt, after which they will also become eligible for this relief.
