UIDAI has introduced a new Aadhaar Card mobile application designed to enhance security, privacy, and ease of identity verification for Indian citizens. The updated app will allow users to manage multiple Aadhaar profiles and share only selected information when required — ensuring better control over personal data and reducing the risk of fraud.

In many cases earlier, individuals had to hand over photocopies of their Aadhaar card or fill out forms for identity verification, which often led to concerns related to data misuse and privacy breaches. The new Aadhaar app aims to eliminate these risks with secure digital verification options, including offline authentication features.

Users will be able to verify their identity without an internet connection by simply scanning QR codes or using offline face verification. This will make the process faster, more reliable, and completely paperless — especially in places like hotels, offices, exhibitions, and real estate facilities.

Here are the major upgrades included in the application:

• Digital Aadhaar Wallet
  Users no longer need to carry a physical Aadhaar card. A securely encrypted Aadhaar profile can be created within the app.

• Multi-Profile Support
  One device can store Aadhaar details of up to five family members, making it easier to manage multiple profiles.

• Selective Data Sharing
  Users can choose what information they want to share — for example, only their name and photo — instead of their full Aadhaar details.

• Biometric Lock/Unlock
  With a single tap, users can lock their biometric data to prevent unauthorized access.

• Secure QR Code Verification
  QR-based and verifiable digital credentials ensure fast and safe identity confirmation.

To use the app, individuals must log in using their Aadhaar-linked mobile number and complete face verification. The app also requires a secure 6-digit password. Only one device can remain logged in at a time — when a new login occurs, the previous device is automatically deactivated to prevent misuse.

The upgraded Aadhaar Card App is expected to be especially useful for:
