Car sold, but RC not transferred?

RC Transfer Process: Many people the car After selling, your responsibility is considered to be over, but the real responsibility starts with the RC transfer. If the RC is not in the name of the new owner, then every challan (penalty), accident or misuse to the vehicle will fall directly on you. So it is very important to complete the process of RC transfer as soon as the car is sold. Understand the entire process in the following simple language:

1. First of all prepare ‘Sale Letter’

The first thing to do when selling a car is to prepare a ‘Sale Letter’. It is a simple written document, which contains the date of sale of the vehicle, the amount of rupees it was sold for and the signature of both the buyer and the seller. This letter proves the date from which the vehicle has been transferred to another person.

2. Start the RC transfer

Now buyer has to download and fill Form 29 and Form 30 from RTO (Regional Transport Office) website. It has to mention the details of the vehicle (eg engine number, chassis number, model) and the information of both the parties. This is the beginning of the official process of RC transfer.

3. Submit the signatures of both and the necessary documents

After filling the form it is mandatory to have signatures of both buyer and seller. The buyer then submits the following documents to the RTO along with the form:

Old RC (Registration Certificate)

Insurance copy

Pollution Certificate (PUC)

Cell letter

Aadhaar Card or Identity Card

Passport size photograph

The clearer the documents, the faster the process.

4. No Objection Certificate (NOC) for car loan

If there is still a loan on the car, then NOC (No Objection Certificate) must be given by the bank. Without NOC the transfer process will not proceed. If all the documents are correct, the buyer deposits the transfer fee in the RTO. This fee varies depending on the vehicle type.

5. Vehicle Inspection

Sometimes the RTO officials themselves conduct inspection of the vehicle. In this the officials verify the documents by checking engine number and chassis number. If everything is found correct then your file goes ahead and the transfer process starts.

6. RC issued in favor of new owner

Once the process is completed the RTO creates an RC in the name of the new owner and posts it to their address. Buyer can go to RTO and collect it himself if he wants.

Note: Until a new RC is received, the receipt of the RC transfer application should be preserved; Because this proves that the car is no longer in your name.
