Countryfile presenter Anita Rani has revealed she's reluctant to "jinx" her blossoming romance whilst confessing she'd contemplate walking down the aisle again with her current beau. The 48-year-old parted ways from former spouse Bhupi Rehal in 2023.
She made her relationship with Alex Lavery public last year, gushing that she finds him both "fun and fit" whilst describing him as possessing a "beautiful soul". The pair discovered common ground through their mutual passion for music, enjoying festival experiences together including Green Man and Glastonbury.
The duo are planning to spend the festive season together this year, though Anita reveals they'll maintain an "open-door policy" for their friends.
Chatting to Fabulous magazine, she expressed her desire to "do something wild and spread some good vibes".
Regarding the prospect of another wedding ceremony, Anita confirmed the pair are "having a nice time".
She continued: "You know, when you meet someone who's vibrant and you think: 'Alright, it's on.'".
"I don't want to jinx it, we're having a nice time. We'll see. I don't know how I feel [about getting married again]. I don't feel like I need to live by convention."
The star, who appears in Celebrity Race Across the World alongside father Balvinder, says she's currently in a "rad space".
She characterises her solo living situation as "liberating" and believes it's "really important" for women to witness. She has previously opened up about her "dark year" after the breakdown of her marriage.
Speaking to Woman magazine, she said: "It's been a very dark, very traumatic year. I'm just going to be taking a moment to remember what I've got."
This followed her admission that she felt her life resembled a "blank slate" in the wake of the separation.
She revealed: "I feel like I've stepped into a place that I never, ever expected myself to be in. I'm in uncharted territory. I'm a single, Asian woman with no children, and do you know what? I love it! I've sort of got a blank slate in front of me, and that feels really good."
Whilst Anita maintains her marriage concluded amicably, with the pair simply growing apart, she acknowledges that obtaining a divorce as a Punjabi woman proved challenging.
She describes it as "quite a big deal" and concedes that divorced women are frequently viewed as "pariahs".
Anita reveals numerous women have approached her offering congratulations since the separation. This comes as the Women's Hour host acknowledges increasing numbers of her programme guests have been "challenging social norms".
"It's inspiring and empowering. Generally, any woman being in their 40s by themself is a difficult thing," she concludes.
