New Delhi: VinFast is bringing its electric MPV, the Limo Green, to India, mainly to support its own ride-hailing service, Green and Smart Mobility (GSM). The launch of the car is expected to happen around the same time as the taxi service, which will use only VinFast vehicles. GSM is part of the Vietnamese company Vingroup, led by Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong.

Most of the Limo Green’s demand in India will likely come from GSM itself because the service will use only VinFast cars. Like VinFast’s other models, this MPV is also expected to be built locally at the company’s factory in Tamil Nadu. India will become the fifth country where GSM operates. The service already runs in Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines and Laos.

How VinFast will place the Limo Green in India.

VinFast is preparing to position the Limo Green electric MPV in India mainly for the company’s own upcoming ride-hailing service. The launch of the Limo Green is expected to happen around the same time as VinFast’s electric taxi service called Green and Smart Mobility (GSM). GSM belongs to the Vietnamese group Vingroup, led by its Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong. As the company explained, “We are going to launch GSM, which is an electric taxi fleet and operations, in India next year. They will be using only VinFast vehicles,” said Chau.

What could make GSM different from companies such as Uber, Ola and Rapido is its model of owning the entire fleet. The company will use its own electric cars and two-wheelers instead of depending on individual drivers. GSM will offer both app-based bookings and regular cab services. Having its own fleet service within the group could help VinFast quickly increase production numbers in India.

Vinfast Limo Green: Key highlight

The VinFast Limo Green has already been seen testing on Indian roads, and its design has been patented here. The Vietnam-spec version is 4,740mm long, 1,872mm wide and 1,728mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,840mm. This makes it slightly larger than the BYD eMax 7 sold in India. In Vietnam, it uses a 60.13kWh battery with a claimed 450km NEDC range.

It has a front-mounted motor making 201hp and 280Nm. Charging options include 11kW AC and 80kW DC fast-charging, which takes about 30 minutes to charge from 10% to 70%. The MPV has a plain design, a simple cabin with a 2+3+2 layout, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, single-zone AC and USB ports. Safety features include 4 airbags, ABS and an electronic parking brake, but no ADAS.
