There is big news for the passengers catching trains from Dehradun and Rishikesh. On 7th and 8th December i.e. Saturday-Sunday, not a single train will run from Dehradun and Yoganagari Rishikesh railway station. During these two days, the station will be completely closed and no train will come or go here. Railways has short-terminated more than 18 trains, meaning these trains will be run from other stations.

Why will Dehradun station be closed?

According to the order issued by Moradabad Railway Board, interlocking work of the loco shed built at Dehradun station is to be done. Loco shed is the place where the repair, maintenance and cleaning of train engines is done. Now this locoshed will be connected to all the lines of the station so that trains can easily reach the locoshed from any line. In this work, changes will also be made in the signaling system. For this reason it has become necessary to close the station for two days.

During this interlocking work, about 20 railway bridges will also be repaired. The construction work of the loco shed is now almost complete and now this is the last step to make it fully operational.
