Kate Middleton debuts her biggest tiara to date and it has a Queen Victoria connection
Princesses and tiaras go hand in hand and when it comes to Kate Middleton , the princess in line to the throne, tiaras look regal. At 5'9 Kate is taller than an average woman and when accompanied by her classy and elegant fashion sense that the British media can't stop raving about, she is the perfect queen.
Over the years, the elder daughter-in-law of the British royal family has showcased the wealth of jewellery she has inherited from her late mother-in-law Princess Diana and even Prince William's grandmother Queen Elizabeth II .
But recently, Middleton put on the biggest jewelled armour in her closet, her biggest tiara, as the Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed the German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender.
What did Kate Middleton wear?
Catherine, the Princess of Wales dazzled in a blue cape gown by Jenny Packham for a state banquet at Windsor Castle held in honour of the German President and his wife.
While filled with sequins, her dress wasn't the only thing that shone bright. The 43-year-old accessorised her fit with the Oriental Circlet Tiara. The piece of jewellery was made in 1853 for Queen Victoria and features diamonds and rubies in a design of sparkling lotus flowers and Mughal arches.
This is the first time Kate has worn the tiara, which is believed to be her biggest yet.

The German president and his wife are in London for a three-day state visit which is the first German state visit to the UK in 27 years. The Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed the couple at Heathrow Airport, where Middleton wore a blue Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton coat with a navy dress by Burberry, suede boots and a hat by Juliette Botterill. She completed the look with double-drop sapphire and diamond earrings, which were a wedding gift to Princess Diana from Crown Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia. She also wore the Prince of Wales feather brooch, which features three ostrich feathers and a centered coronet, previously worn by both Diana and Camilla.
The world finally got to see a new jewel from Princess Kate's wardrobe this year. Now, it remains to be seen if there's more hiding in there.
