Mohali:A sensational murder took place on Monday during a private Kabaddi tournament in Sohana area of ​​Mohali district of Punjab. Kabaddi player and promoter Rana Balachauria, who had arrived at the tournament, was fired upon by 2-3 unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle. A large number of spectators were present in the ground at the time of the incident, which immediately created chaos. Rana Balachauria was taken to the hospital after being shot, but he died during treatment.

Initial investigation by the police found that the attackers suddenly started firing after reaching Rana Balachauria on the pretext of taking a selfie. The firing was done at very close range, resulting in serious injuries. After the incident, the attackers fled on a motorcycle. Eyewitnesses said that initially people thought that firecrackers were bursting, but soon they realized the real situation and people started running here and there in fear.

A post in the name of Bambiha Gang went viral on social media, in which it claimed to take responsibility for the murder of Rana Balachauria. In this post it was said that this murder has been done in revenge of Sidhu Moosewala and a warning was also given to stay away from some specific Kabaddi teams. Police are investigating gangster links in this incident and are analyzing CCTV footage and social media activities nearby.

It is being told that a famous Punjabi singer was expected to come during the evening matches and prize distribution in the tournament, due to which a huge crowd was present in the ground. This incident has raised serious questions on the security arrangements of public events.
