There's good news for those who registered for the 150-unit free electricity scheme in Rajasthan. The government, led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, has begun transferring subsidy funds to beneficiaries' accounts. Consumers who install solar panels on their rooftops under the Chief Minister's Free Electricity Scheme receive an additional subsidy from the state government in addition to the central government subsidy.
The Rajasthan government is providing a subsidy of ₹17,000. The Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam has initiated the subsidy transfer process. Jaipur Discom has transferred ₹28,73,000 to the accounts of 169 beneficiaries. This amount is in addition to the ₹78,000 subsidy from the central government. According to Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar, the combined subsidy from the Chief Minister's Free Electricity Scheme and the PM Surya Ghar Bijli Yojana is ₹95,000.
The scheme was launched in October.
The Energy Minister stated that Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the registration portal for the 150-unit free electricity scheme in Jaipur on October 13, 2025. After registering on this portal, 169 consumers who had already received central subsidies by installing solar rooftops under the PM Suryaghar scheme have been provided with this state subsidy.
Eligibility for the 150-unit free electricity scheme
In the 2025-26 budget, the state government made the important announcement of the 150-unit free electricity scheme, leveraging the PM Suryaghar free electricity scheme to provide further benefits to the beneficiaries of the Chief Minister's Free Electricity Scheme. In the first phase, registered consumers of the Chief Minister's Free Electricity Scheme who have their own rooftop available for installing rooftop solar are eligible for the state subsidy under this scheme.
How to Apply
For the PM Surya Ghar Bijli scheme, they must submit their consent through the Rajasthan Discoms' portals: https://www.energy.rajasthan.gov.in/Jvvnl, energy.rajasthan.gov.in/Jdvvnl, https://www.energy.rajasthan.gov.in/Avvnl, or the Bijli Mitra mobile application and web portal. They then apply for the PM Surya Ghar Bijli scheme. After installing rooftop solar panels and receiving the central assistance, they receive the state subsidy from the Discoms.
After Jaipur, Ajmer, and Jodhpur will receive the subsidy.
Within two months of the portal's launch, 246,894 consumers have already agreed to connect to solar energy by installing a minimum 1.1-kilowatt rooftop solar panel under the 150-unit free electricity scheme. After registration, a total of 3,197 eligible consumers have installed rooftop solar panels. Of these, 1,429 consumers have already received the central subsidy.
They are now receiving a subsidy of ₹17,000. These include 547 Jaipur Discom consumers, of whom 169 have received the state subsidy. Subsidy funds will soon be transferred to other consumers as well. Ajmer and Jodhpur Discoms will also soon begin distributing state subsidies to beneficiaries.
