Kanpur. Amid adverse weather and increasing cold, District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh has declared a two-day holiday in all the schools of Kanpur district on the recommendation of school children. DM has given instructions to keep all council, aided and private schools running from nursery to class 12 closed on 19 and 20 December.

For the last few days, a large number of messages from school children were being received on the official mobile number of the District Magistrate (DM). The children had innocently asked for leave in view of the cold by writing ‘DM Uncle, please take leave’.

The DM took the messages of many children including Priya, Pranshu, Samvrdhi, Pallu, Prasidhi and Nama seriously. On Thursday, the District Magistrate had reached Primary School Nagwa. Here, during the inauguration program of Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla Space Science and Innovation Lab, he announced holiday from the stage in front of the children. On hearing this, the school campus echoed with applause and joy of children. DM said that children’s health is the priority of the administration. This decision has been taken in view of the cold and weather conditions.
