The state government has taken a new initiative for the development of road connectivity in Bihar. The recent decision makes it clear that now the expressway will be constructed by the state government instead of the central government. The move will not only facilitate travel to the state but will also enhance the prospects for industrial development.

Preparations for construction of new expressway in Bihar

The state government has started considering the formation of Bihar Expressway Authority for the construction of the expressway. This authority will play a key role not only in planning but also in land acquisition and construction work. This will speed up the projects and there will be no interruption in the work.

Major expressways to be developed in Bihar

The government has planned to develop five major expressways in the state. These expressways will connect various parts as well as neighboring states. The proposed expressway includes:

1. Patna–Purnia Expressway: About 282 km

2. Buxar–Hajipur Expressway: About 650 km

3. Gorakhpur–Siliguri Expressway: About 520 km

4. Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata Expressway: About 612 km

5. East-West Corridor: Proposed in future

The total cost of these projects is estimated to be more than Rs 1 lakh crore.

Development and new employment opportunities

These expressways will not only simplify transportation but will also promote industry and trade. Due to the construction work, lakhs of people are expected to get employment and the economy of the state will improve. Apart from this, movement of agricultural and industrial products will also be faster.

Land Acquisition and Investment Strategies

The government has assured to make the land acquisition process transparent and quick. Funding for the expressway construction will be done through various sources such as state budget, institutional investment and public-private partnership model.

New identity of Bihar

Experts believe that if these plans are completed on time, the roads and infrastructure of Bihar will overcome the polluted and inconvenient condition and reach the level of developed states. This could establish Bihar as an expressway state.

Overall, this decision takes steps towards accelerating and sustaining the pace of development of the state. Now just waiting for when the Expressway Authority is formed and when the work will start.
