A number of people have been treated for injuries after riding a damaged water slide at Center Parcs. The Wild Water Rapids had reportedly "sustained some damage" leading to the incident at the Sherwood Forest site, in Nottingham. The rapids in the Subtropical Swimming Paradise area were shut down for an investigation after on-site medics treated a "small number" of people for injuries.
It is understood the popular water attraction was re-opened on Tuesday (23 December) to guests after a thorough check. A spokesperson said: "A small section of the Wild Water Rapids at Sherwood Forest sustained some damage yesterday and was closed as a precaution, following further investigation.
"A small number of guests sustained minor injuries and were treated on site by our first aid teams.
"The outside pool and the majority of the Wild Water Rapids reopened to guests from midday today."
The horror incident follows two visitors at the popular Pembrey Country Park being hospitalised after a toboggan ride crashed.
According to an eye-witness at the park, there was a malfunction on the ride which saw one toboggan crash into another. The eye-witness said he was queuing to use the ride when he heard a scream coming from the track.
Two people were taken to hospital following the incident, although no update has been issued regarding any injuries sustained. Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed they are not investigating.
A spokeswoman for the force said: "A call was received by the ambulance service requesting police assistance at approximately 8.25pm on Sunday, December 21, following an incident that had occurred on the toboggan ride at Pembrey Country Park.
"Officers remained at the location whilst enquiries were carried out. There is no further police involvement in relation to the incident."
Pembrey Country Park remains open as normal, however the toboggan ride is currently closed while council officials investigate the circumstances of the incident.
