finger problems in winter

New Delhi: As the cold season arrives, the problems of cold and cough start increasing. Along with this, many people also suffer from swelling, severe pain, itching and blisters in the fingers and toes. This condition can be so severe that everyday tasks, walking and even holding small objects become difficult.

Health experts say that blood circulation slows down due to drop in temperature in winter. The tissues of the fingers are already delicate, due to which cold has more impact on them and causes swelling and pain. However, with proper care and some home remedies, this problem can be controlled to a great extent.

Causes of swelling in fingers

Swelling in the fingers and toes can occur due to many reasons, such as staying in cold for a long time, not wearing warm clothes, lack of water in the body, and suddenly moving from cold to warm place. This problem can be serious for some people, especially those who have increased uric acid, or those suffering from diabetes, arthritis or hormonal imbalance.

irrigation method

If fingers are swollen due to cold, then mix rock salt or alum in hot water and keep hands and feet immersed in it for some time. After this, dry thoroughly with a towel, apply pain-relieving balm or moisturizer and immediately cover with a cotton cloth. This provides considerable relief from swelling and pain.

Pain relief through massage

To reduce swelling and stiffness, add turmeric, garlic, celery and cloves and cook in mustard oil. Filter this oil and massage the affected area gently and then wear socks and gloves. This remedy provides relief from pain by increasing blood circulation.

Turmeric-salt and oil paste

An old home remedy used by grandmothers is to mix salt and turmeric in lukewarm mustard oil and apply it on the fingers and wrap a cloth on top. This provides relief from both swelling and pain.

turmeric milk

If fingers swell frequently in winter, then one should drink lukewarm milk with turmeric and black pepper daily. This reduces muscle stiffness and also provides relief from swelling, pain and joint stiffness.

things to keep in mind

To avoid swelling and pain, reduce salt intake, drink adequate water and avoid extreme cold. Always wear gloves and socks, do light exercises like stretching, walking or jumping. Avoid roasting hands and feet directly on fire. If swelling persists for a long time, it is necessary to contact a doctor.
