Rajpal Yadav cheque bounce case: Just days after Rajpal Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail, the industry has begun rallying around the comic star in a show of solidarity that’s as emotional as it is financial. The actor was taken into custody after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea for more time to clear dues amounting to nearly Rs 9 crore in multiple cheque-bounce cases linked to his 2010 film Ata Pata Laapata.

The first to step forward was Sonu Sood, who announced that he had signed Rajpal for his next project and would release the signing amount immediately to help him navigate this difficult phase. His gesture sparked a wave of support from fellow actors and public figures.

Gurmeet Choudhary steps forward to help Rajpal Yadav

Television actor Gurmeet Choudhary also expressed anguish over Rajpal’s situation. Writing on X, he said, “It breaks my heart to see a senior and immensely talented artist like Rajpal Yadav go through such a painful phase.” He continued, “He has given us countless smiles, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Today, he needs us. As a fellow actor and as a human being, I am stepping forward to help in whatever way I can.” Urging the film fraternity to unite, he added, “Our industry is a family. And family does not abandon its own.”

Rao Inderjeet Singh Yadav extends support of Rs 1.11 crore

Music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh Yadav, owner of GemTunes Music, extended financial support of Rs 1.11 crore. Speaking to IANS, he said, “Rajpal ji has given immeasurable joy to audiences and has been an integral part of Indian cinema. This support is not about money, it is about standing with a fellow human being in his time of need.” He echoed Gurmeet’s sentiment, adding that the industry must hold its own together.

Tej Pratap Yadav offers help to Rajpal

Political backing also arrived. Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, announced Rs 11 lakh in assistance for Rajpal’s family. In his X post, he wrote, “In this extremely difficult time, I and my entire JJD family stand in complete empathy and solidarity with their grieving family.”

The legal trouble stems from loans Rajpal took from Murali Projects Pvt Ltd. The court noted he owed Rs 1.35 crore in each of seven cases and ordered the release of deposited amounts to the complainant. Before surrendering, Rajpal had told Bollywood Hungama, “Everyone is on their own” in the industry.

Yet, in this moment, some stars from the industry seem determined to prove otherwise.
